What can you tell me about this Super Ludwig snare? Last viewed: 8 hours ago

I came across this Super Ludwig snare for sale but I know nothing about these drums. Looks to be missing a hoop. Is there much value in this and how hard would it be to obtain the missing parts?

Well, parts aren't impossible to find but they cost for original. Repro straight hoops and hooks are available and not too pricey. A nice condition super can range from $500 -$1200usd.

Pure sound make replacement snare wires.

The 4x14 Super-Ludwig is a tad rarer than a 5x14 and not as rare as a 6.5x14. The top rim will run you about 75.00...looks like you need 10 tension rods/washers, that's 100.00...looks like you'll need 10 collar hooks, that's 100.00...the thumbscrew and extension lever will be another 50.00...snare guards can run up to 300-400 a pair but you can get repros from Bill Wanser ( WanserP{B@aol.com ) for way less...so there you have it...I do have the correct parts available, feel free to contact me at mike@curottodrums.com or 650-595-2022 PST if you are interested in getting your drum back to original catalog correct condition..

Thanks Mike, that's good to know. The drum is in auction so we'll see what happens. Between myself and Supraphonic (above) one of us may get it. I'd be looking to restore it to original.

So, one of us may be in touch or we might both be blown away in the bidding.

Good luck...let me know if you need my help after you win the drum (thinking positive!).
