Well, not to buy, but it is time...

I found this while cruising the ads today. I have some shells and heads, if there is any interest from the community in helping me get this together, please email me at my address found on my profile.

I have already contacted the poster and asked for some info, and will determine from the answer what course of action to take. It will be a donor kit, so any and all help will be appreciated. I will update in the next few weeks as to what, if anything, I need, and if youse guys, and girls, would be so generous as to help a brutha out, once again, with his passion, it will be sorely appreciated by giver(s) and recipient.

Let me know what you may have. My preliminary list is going to be for el cheapo bronze, or likely more to the point, brass, sheet type, for hats and maybe a crash/ride and a low dollar hat stand, snare stand and straight stand. Don't have anymore stands I can let go of. My last three donor kits took some good stands and pedals, but I think I have a bass pedal that I put out.

At this point, I am uncertain as to exactly what I will be sending. If you read the post, he is "beginning to come out of his room"...and has not played on at least 18 years, more likely longer. I may just go with a snare and hats, maybe a complete jungle or cocktail type set up....just waiting for the cuz to get there and let me know what the recip is up to.

I am looking for a used complete drum kit for my cousin who is a Vet of Vietnam. He has been in his room for the past 18 years and is starting to come out of it and he was once a drummer and I am trying to find a set for him so he can concentrate on them. I am moving back to Minnesota where he lives July 1st and just don't have a lot of money to buy a set but just want to check out there if there is a playable set that someone would like to get rid of cheap for a great cause. Thanks for reading this.

Why was he in his room for 18 years? Certainly not because of Viet Nam. He entered the room in 1993. This sounds a bit creepy. Do you know this guy, Jonni? It's got a real slimy feel to it, from my read.

No, I don't. I have contacted the requester to get a feel for the whole situation. I am going to ask him/her a lot of questions and find out what it is all about. Could be delayed PTSD, trauma driven from some sort accident, any number of reasons. Could have been a heroin addict that never came down....too many things to speculate on. I will get much info before I decide if this is going to be a recipient. I have done enough of these to know to ask many questions and weed through the B/S.

Hey Jonni, I hate to say this .But i see listing like this on C/L all the time asking for drums for so and so..99.9% of the time it's a drum collector or a C/L re-seller looking for cheap drums....Mikey

Well if it checks out I found a 4 pc Kadence set 12-13-16-22 at a local pawn shop and the guy would sell it to me for 80 bucks. It didn't look like it needs much work to get going. It's all there. I just didn't pull the trigger as I've got too many irons in the fire.

I agree with the others though, Jonn. I had a brother who was one crazy guy. Got himself murdered in LA back in '92. But even he got out and made friends.

Your heart is surely in the right place tho, Jonn. Kudos to ya.
