Hello I could use some help to determine what this kit I found is worth. ( not made an offer as yet. ) it is a mid to later 1970,s clear 12,13, 16, 22. no snare. pics look like it is dusty or cloudy. and in very good condition. no cracks or splits. spider web, checking. with that description on todays prices what would be a fair price to offer? also how do these stack up against say rogers and gretsch drums. for recording and live performances. thanks in advance. if needing anymore info I am watching this to be here to answer. Willy.
vistalites value? Last viewed: 1 day ago
Common sizes, common color. Hard to value without pictures, but I personally wouldn't go more than $600-$700 in top condition.
Ludwig Vistalite Big Beat set consisting of:
14” X 22” bass, 16” X 16” floor tom, 8” X 12” ride tom, 9” X 13” ride tom, 5” X 14” snare
Ludwig 201 Speed King bass drum pedal
Ludwig 1124 Spur-lok hit-hat with Ludwig Standard Paiste 14” cymbals (760 & 770 gr) with ching-ring
Two Ludwig Standard S-270 cymbals stands
18” Zildjian crash cymbal (1550 gr) and 20” Zildjian ride cymbal (2130 gr) with CAMCO sizzler
Gibraltar motorcycle seat-style drum throne with backrest
I agree with The Tinman.
The clear Vistalites probably age the worst of any color. The "cloudy" you see is probably just bad aging. To me, Vistas would be nice to have in my collection but I'm not actively seeking them out. More of a conversation piece than great sounding. Strcutural issues to worry about. I'd spend the $600-700 on a 2013 version of Vistalites if you really want a kit.. The blue looks gorgeous. And they have it in bop sizes too.
thanks guys, I got all the info I needed. my thoughts were close, but would have paid a little too much. I really don't care for them as much as good old hardwood drums. I think I should stick to what I know.
