The "Jazztette" wins the nod of approval from the marketing executives in the gray suits.
:)
Last week I sent the seller a message to ask about serial numbers, pic of the inner shell and date stamps but heard nothing back.

Don't know why I haven't seen this thread! DOH
Looked through my hundreds of downloaded eBay pictures and found these two kits, both in Thermogloss and 12x18 bass drums. The first sold for $3,600 BIN in July, 2008. The second kit sold for $3,151.99 in November, 2008.

That could be a sweet deal for someone, although the large lugs and the muffler placement on the 12", as well as the color, don't quite fit with the early 70's birthdate the seller is stating.
K.O.,
I believe you are correct about the 12" not being an early 70's. Ludwig began placing the muffler directly over the air vent/badge, directly opposite the tom holder, around 1977-78.

I found a Jazzette last year that was rough! Spray painted black inside and out. The BD is 18x14 with no extra holes, and the rail mount is offset(not on top). Badges date them to 64, all 5 digit. I can’t state in words the sound these produce, but(purists grind teeth here) they are restored. Oyster Black wrap and recut edges(sorry, had to). Before and after shots.
Spray painting drums black inside and out! That does not make the groove move or the swing swing.
What your saying is you took off the Obp or is the pic reversed
OK, after and before. Like you couldn’t tell the difference? LOL
With a nod to the heathens of yesteryear, I present my recently acquired 14x18 "Jazzaire".
Sweet sweet sweet! And tempting to leave that finish but will look sweet sweet sweet with GS wrap. Congrats!
Mitch
What a find Obp under spray paint now I’m seeing it right
