I want to check them out but she's like 2-3 hours away from me.I checked out the Rogers Blue Onyx kit today. The guy lives 5 minutes away from me which is strange considering I live in a small town. He's a VDF'er as well! When I walked into his basement I was blown away by all the Rogers stuff he had... must have had like 3-4 kits, and a few snares as well. He makes his own kits too. Bill, if you see this say hey!

So, did you buy the Rogers kit? Seemed like a good deal.

I'm still thinking about it. $800 is a good chunk of money - especially for a student.

The kit sounded amazing though. He had them tuned just right... when I first played on them they sounded like they were tuned too high. I mentioned that to him and he told me to let him play while I sat away from the drums. They sounded perfect... like cannons really. This guy knew everything you could possibly know about drums!

Hello everyone. I'm that seller from this Ludwig champagne sparkle kit in question.

Thanks for your interest, scouter0. I sold the kit last week for the full $700. It was only a matter of time before one of the many interested people got in their car to come try them out. He drove 3 hours.

I've been watching the drum market online for the past 15 years. Specifically Ludwig drums. And if you take a closer look at the local classifieds for us here in southern Ontario, you can then have some perspective on why I was charging $700 for this 'great' three piece.

Okay, I know the club date tom is not ideal. But I was the second owner of this kit, and the guy I got them from said he's owned them since new. The serial numbers were all within a couple hundred of each other (the buyer had me give him the numbers, but I forget what they were). There was nothing to suggest this was a pieced together kit. There are apparently a lot of these anomalies that come out of the factories.

I was fully honest that the only thing not original was the bottom hoops, and one bass spur rod. Tension rods were though, as they were kept in the cases. The hardware was in mint condition. Dusty, but mint. But who cares about it not being all original. It's a players kit.

Sure I could have gotten a lot more for these on ebay. I could just put a high 'buy it now' price on there, on par with the going rate, an sit on them till they sold. One thing I would never do is to sell them separately, even if that would mean a bigger total price.

I ask all of you to check out our local classified Ludwig selection. Take a look at all the ridiculous prices for some of this stuff. Some of the nicest kits out there currently are pieced together. Hope this link works

There is a reason this kit sold so quickly. scout0 offered $500. There's a huge selection of Pearl Forums out there for $500. They might be all original too!

Yes, they were beautiful drums and you were well within the going rates here in Ontario. Canada having a population consistently 1/10th the size of the U.S., these kits are about 10 times more rare across the country, and priced accordingly. Also we don't find many gold sparkle Ludwig kits for $50 at yard sales...although it must have happened once I suppose...:)

Haha right! It looked nicely ginger-aled in the picture, so over time it became gold sparkle in my mind. :)
