valuation and identification help Last viewed: 5 seconds ago

I am trying to sell these for a friend. Its a 13,16,20 black diamond pearl keystone ludwig set dated april 9, 1965 in the floor tom. All original wrap in great shape with good chrome, baseball bat mufflers; but missing all the bottom tension rods and rims on all three drums. Separately, a chrome over steel supraphonic?, same keystone vintage, baseball bat muffler, some pitting, non-original wires. Also a speed king pedal. Ideas on value and/or identification clarification would be appreciated.

Serial numbers are

Bass 142306

13 tom 123175

16 tom 142359

snare 86528

Thanks for your help and these may be available here first

Value is going to be greatly dependent on how bad the unprotected bearing edges are dinged up. Oftentimes, these situations require edges to be re-cut, which will depreciate the drums by as much as 50%, as it takes away from their originality.

Chrome on steel supraphonic 1965 S/N wouldn't be very likely. What little I know shows only available in 1965 as a Ludaloy shell directly under chrome (without the customary Copper under Nickel bonding layers). Your supraphonic image shows exposed oxidized aluminum under the chrome at a position about 5 o'clock from your badge and below the bead - which eliminates an earlier brass shell that might have somehow ended up with that badge, I guess. Plus hear tell, the brass would be considerably heftier than the Luddy version. How's the condition of the chrome flaking or pitting around the rest of her?

Fingers crossed on those exposed edges, brother. Hope they come thru for you. Nice kit.

Edges actually look great. The snare has quite a bit of acne although still chrome covered and shiny. the other drums have absolutely perfect wrap with nit a scratch. So the snare is described as a supraphonic with a luddaloy shell?
