Update on Slingerland Blue Sparkle Snare Last viewed: 4 days ago

I wanted to run by the dimensions of the drum I just received and see if anyone knows history or other info on this drum. It is a 15" x 8" Concert Snare drum. I believe the serial # puts it somewhere around 62'-65'. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I can't find any listings of snares with these dimensions anywhere???? The largest I say manufactured around this time period is 6 1/2"- 7" Deep and no 15" Width drums. Thanks all.

It's a "Concert Hall Model". See link: HERE. I call these "Big Dog" snares. Hard to play quietly on these - which can be a good thing depending on what and where you're playing!

That's what I thought, too.

But the catalog says the concert hall is a 6 lugger, and it looks like the drum in question is an 8 lugger.

Thanks. That is very helpful info. I am not sure what to make of the 6 lug 8 lug discrepancy. ???? This drum (and I believe a second identical drum I did not win was the property of the Chicago Police Band. I am guessing sometime in the 60's-early 70's. I would love to know more of the specific history if anyone knows more. Thanks again for al the help.
