Unknown Pearl Acrylic/Fiberglass Shells Last viewed: 2 minutes ago

On the 4th pic of the 1st post, you can see where they possibly had to repair the tom mounts on the inside. The snare looks like it has everything except the tom protector/stayaway.

Any ideas if it is worth putting the money into? I calculated it out, and it should be around $410 for all the hardware, throne and semi decent cymbals. $154 for just drums. That doesn't include nut boxes for the resonant heads or the heads themselves.

It sounds like a unique awesome kit, I kinda want to do it. It seems like i'm taking a big chance on hoping it still is tunable. The snare and the 18" don't have bearing edges like the others. Could someone have added bearings? Both 16" and 12" toms have edges that are splitting. Here is a pic.

Big thanks sealclubbineskimo, leedybdp. I appreciate everyone helping me identify. Im still undecided if I should put a kit together with it or look at a used complete kit of something else.

Definitely not dumpster fodder, at least not entirely.

It looks like an old Fibes kit that someone converted to "concert toms" and put Pearl mounting hardware on.

Love to find out what's actually under that damn automotive paint, especially the snare.

They have cult appeal; as for the vintage aspect, the previous owners kind of blew that with the Pearl hardware and the concert tom thing.

I think your best bet would be to sell the snare off by itself and then part out the lugs. Someone might be able to get the car paint off the snare, and there's also a bonanza of usable restoration hardware on it. They could even use the hardware to make a repro snare to go with their Fibes kit.

Even the Pearl bass drum tom mount could fetch you $20 or more on eBay. Throw in the mounts off the rack toms.

These drums could conceivably make a usable "player's kit" but you'd wind up with one-headed plastic toms, which are not to everyone's taste.

Selling the parts means that someone gets what they need to restore/complete an old Fibes kit.

You'd probably get enough from the lugs and snare to buy a nice used Gretsch Catalina Club shell pack or something.

Sad that the shells were butchered, but they may be a lost cause. The bearing edges can be repaired with stick epoxy, and the bottom lugs put back on, but it would be a labor of....love. Post them in the For Sale section and see if someone here wants them.

From researching and the info here, I'm liking the vibe of the fibes. I'm going to make a 4 piece kit out of it, use the lug boxes from the extra tom and 18 floor tom for the reso sides, and keep the bass open for now. All I need is a throne, mount hardware, and cymbals. I'll expand toms as parts and cash comes available. Bass mounts will be hard, they are around 50$ + shipping on eBay.

I'll definitely post a pic when it's complete.

Sorry bbeyer! I do wish the snare or toms for that matter were without the paint job. I was looking for even putting the original badges back on, but it was about $40 on eBay, for only one. Maybe some day for completeness sake.
