Trying to remember a particular drumhead... Last viewed: 10 seconds ago

Loading...

Back in the day when I played in a band with my buddy from school, we used to mess around with different heads on his Ludwigs. One snare head we had, in particular, was like a fiber head but not a fiberskyn. I vaguely recall it being almost like a basketweave/crosshatch head that had a coated clear layer on the top. I can't seem to word it right to Google it, so checking to see if anyone here might have a clue as to what I'm talking about! Feel like it was a Remo head, or I'm just dreaming it up...

Kits:
1966 Ludwig Hollywood Gold Sparkle Pearl 12/13/16/22
Star 3pc in Red Glass Glitter (1960's)
Snares:
1959 Ludwig Pioneer Mahogany
60's Ludwig Pioneer Gold Sparkle
60's Ludwig Acrolite (Keystone)
Ludwig/Custom 6.5x14
1960's Bolero (MIJ)

Sounds like an Asahi composite drum head. Sure would like to find a couple of them.

I remember the Duraline heads that were weaved but I dont think they had any kind of coating on them. Those were the only type I remember.

I think that you will find that it was the "original" Fiberskyn by Remo. I still have a 24" stashed away somewhere. A fibreglass weave..

A great BD head with a very low Q..

Cheers

I remember Duraline.........I think.

Yellow color. Woven Fabric like stuff.

The most DEAD head at the time.

No ring, at least not much.

I bought 1 and no more.

You only ever needed one Duraline head as that Kevlar weave lasted forever. My guess is this the head in question. I seem to recall some revision of them having a clear coat of some sort.
