Trying to ID snare drum... Last viewed: 5 hours ago

Loading...

I just picked this snare drum up over the weekend ($40 with a Wuhan China cymbal). There are no manufacturer markings on the drum itself.

The lower hoop has Ludwig cast into it, but it is different from the top hoop. The lever hardware is Rogers. It is 14x8. If anyone has any ideas, your input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Looks a Rogers Century snare with a Ludwig bottom rim:

I came across this after digging through scathes of Tama snare pics and scratching my head, then doing a google search for 'deep rogers snare". Hope this helps!

The inside of the shell has no reinforcing rings, which I may be mistaken, but I believe Rogers drums always had them in the 60's.

This shell looks to me to be either stripped and refinished, or possibly a newer shell with all the lug holes drilled. A semi-custom drum.

Also - the breather hole is not where a Rogers would be….

From green glass drum

I think the lugs are Tama.

Yep, those look like Tama lugs to me.

I think we have quite the Frankendrum here. Tama lugs, Rogers strainer, two different hoops, and who knows what make of shell. Anyone recognize those snare gates? Either way, seem like it might be a good sounding drum for only $40.

@funkypoodle - I don't know if it would be a Rogers, as it has 10 lugs, instead of the 8 shown in the link.
