I've been buying/selling on eBay since April, 1999. Things have changed allot since then! Still, with rare exception, I've had very good results, both as a buyer and a seller. My feedback is 100 percent, and for good reason... I'm honest and treat everyone the way I would want to be treated.
I've sold at least 5 complete kits over the years and never had any issues.
By all means, please start out selling small items and build up your feedback rating. I stay clear of first-timers selling big ticket items. That doesn't mean they are not to be trusted. It just means they need to understand the business world of eBay.
As to fees, I don't have too much of an issue. Yes, I wish they were a flat rate, but it is what it is. There is a selling calculator that lets you determine all your fees, based on selling price, etc. Works pretty good, too!
Yes, you need to be aware of all the scammers, but that holds true for Craigslist, too!
