I at first thought this was a child's drum, and it may be. But it is chrome over brass...I assume as it is not magnetic. It measures 12" x 7". I would probably be interested in selling this one, not sure what it's worth.

Yes, I think it might be a "juvenile" drum. I have similar drums but they aren't rope tensioned. That's a cool strainer!
It's a specialized collectible mostly used for decoration although it is a functional drum -just not one that's very practical for "real" use.
I've never paid more than $90 for any of the juvenile drums I have. The most I've ever seen one sell for was around $150 and that was a really perfect one with the strap and key. It's hard to say though, because the rope tension aspect adds value to this type of drum. Who knows?
Cool drum for sure!

Probably far too sophisticated to be a junior drum. The wire tensioner indicates that alone --A lot of these were used in the military, so a smaller compact drum would be somewhat usefull for packing along. The plating is likely tin. ---I don't think anyone would be chroming, in that era. Tin is a little more blue than nickel and can be confused with chrome. It comes to a shiney polish but is quite soft, so is easily scratched or buffed off.
