The Proper Gretsch badge Gormmet length?

I think it was on this Forum but I can't find it....a Forum member was refitting a Gretsch snare (maybe a bass drum) badge and wanted to know the perfect grommet length to make the badge fit snug.

I'm going to be fitting a few Round Badges onto some three ply shells and I may have to use some grommets I bought new online. They seem to be a little long. I bought the tools - two - one to fit the snare grommet and the other the bass badge grommet.

What measurement do I use to make sure the tool will give the proper 'Roll-Over" inside the shell.....= allowing a snug fit?

Gary - Just measure the thickness of the shell and add a 1/16" to allow for the lip to form/roll-up on the back.

Too many great drums to list here!

Thanks John - that is what I was looking for.

Gotta say it again - those Merlot drums of yours are spectacular.
