the overuse of " club date"

Loading...

Why is any kit that has central, double ended lugs that shows up on this forum, automatically a club date kit? How come not a band stand or stageband or playboy? when in fact most of them are just cheap drums with less parts on them to make them even cheaper. Isn't it slightly demeaning to the much reveered Ludwig drum company to describe these illegitimate crappy competitors as one of their signature models? Can't another name be found such as minimij or mijdates or club mij. how about mijboy's or mijbands or stage mij's or even playmij's. Maybe someone should email Ludwig and see what they think?

Perhaps some research is in order to determine who pioneered the use of single lugs. If I were Ludwig, I would be honored that my 'club date' kit was so successful that this phenomenon occurred. mimimij does not do nearly enough to adequately describe what it is - (many would think it was some little junior sized kit).

I know I love my Gold Glass Glitter (Pearl made) Stagemaster, but of course that would not work.

How about Longrods or Unilugs?

Someday I will get around to shooting pics of my "club-style" kit and sharing here.

John

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

I don't call my drums anything other than "The Pearls". I also have "The Red Gretsch Kit", and "The Ludwigs".

I don't get fancy enough stuff to actually have a name for it!
