Well folks, I'm so happy with my vintage Ludwig and Gretsch stuff, that I've decided to make it official. I'm officially a vintage Ludwig and Gretsch player now. This means I'm selling my modern kit (another brand) this week. Hello warm hip sounds, and bye bye fill in the blank. flowers2

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
welcome to the dark side....we have cookies Chewie:
I can't think of one modern set I'd rather play than my Slingerlands.
Bold move! I must say my Premiers have been getting a lot of love and the Tama set is collecting a bit of dust...and I love that set.

I'm tired of following the crowd...it's time to do my own thing.
Congrats! Welcome to the Chick, Gene, Louie, Buddy, Jo, Davey, Big Sid, Sonny, Mel, Joe, Max, Philly Joe, Jimmy, Art, Elvin, Tony....on and on and on club. How can anyone listen to Joe Morello's Ludwigs on "Take Five" or Philly Jo's Gretsch drums on "Gone" and NOT want to play those.
Right on! The best sounds in the world.
We are lucky to have so many choices, esp in the U.S. as far as affordable gear, new used and vintage goes.
It is nice for most folks to be able to afford a genuine vintage instrument, try buying a U.S. fender from the 50's and 60's for eight to twelve hundred bucks.
The other nice thing is that if you need to update them for gigging you can do so without permanently modifying them, not to mention the look, sound, vibe and mojo.
Nice. Although i play pretty much all vintage, I will hang on to my modern Sonor kit. It sounds awesome and provides a sound my vintage drums do nt that works in a lot of situations.
