Tension on heads with snare beds Last viewed: 2 days ago

Loading...

Would anyone be able to enlighten me on this? Some snares have rather deep snare beds cut out (Gretsch round badges for example). When I tighten the snare side head I notice that unless I tighten the head extremely tight, there tends to be too much ripple or "looseness" near the snare beds. Should this be that way? Or should the head be the same tightness, evenly, around the whole drum. Thanks!

The head should be the same tightness around the drum. This should fix the ripples are the snare beds..But on Gretsch drums the t-rods on each side of bed should be alittle thigher than the others on the drum...Mikey

Yes... And you should find that the head will settle quite a a bit to accomodate the snare bed in within a week or two..

Cheers

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
