hi all

i guess i've just done the usual thing of only registering with the site because i want something but i hope someone can help

i'm restoring an early 60s sonor teardrop kit and am looking for the parallel snare mechanism

i'm looking to buy or possibly trade for other teardop parts....i may have hoops, shells, badges, lugs etc to trade

i'm in the UK

hope you can help

Please post some pics, so we can see what snare drum exactly you are talking about. Generally, I think you will need infinite luck to find just the mechanism. You may be able to pick a complete drum up - but who knows...

You could also do worse than to ask this question over at http://www.sonormuseum.com/forum/

Best of luck!

hi magnus

thanks for your reply

i know i'm more likely to find the whole drum and would be willing to do so

but i haven't seen many of these (with the parallel mech) around

there was one on ebay.de recently but the seller wouldn't post to the uk...it went for a good price too!...i was quite disappointed

so i'm still looking for the mech and if that means getting the whole drum so be it!

will post some pics later...too much chaos and lack of space at the mo

cheers

hi guys

i've attached some pics as i have 2 teardrop snares...both need the parallel mech

i've noticed some subtle differences the red one is 1/2" deeper, and has a cheaper looking damper mech, it also has a teardop detail round damping screw

(please see pics for clarification)

both have the offset lugs

so what models are these?

still looking for that parallel mech if anyone has one!
