I just picked up this supra and it's in need of a good cleaning, is there a special method for cleaning them? Thanks.

I use a product called neverdull works well for me.
Mark does it have any chrome pitting?
I used Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish, then a high quality carnuba wax, on my '64 Supra and couldn't be happier. Of course if the chrome is pitted or flaking, nothing is going to fix it.
1976 Ludwig Stainless Steel "Bop" (12,14,18)
1998 Ayotte "Ray Era" Wood Hoop Copper Sparkle (10,12,14,16,20)
Nothing to clean the pitting, that's obvious. A dirty chrome needs to be treated carefully or you will get swirl marks and scratches. Clean it with soap and water first to remove heavy dirt and funk. A quality chrome polish will do wonders, but you must use 100% cotton cloths. Chances are you will see flaking of the chrome around any pit areas. Take the cloth outside and shake it out before continuing, every time.
It's a cumbersome process, but worth it.
Show us the after shots too!

1966 Ludwig Clubdate Oyster Black
1969 Ludwig BB Blue Oyster Keystone Clubdate
1971 Ludwig BB Black Oyster
Early 60's Camco Oaklawns Champagne Sparkle
Ya, there is pitting and I know nothing can be done about that, just want to clean it up so it looks a bit nicer.
I bought my '71 Supra 12 years ago, and i'm ashamed to say that i've only cleaned it once since then.. No particular reason, just laziness i guess.. DOH However, when i did clean it, i used good old dish soap and warm water, with a soft sponge, dried it off, sprayed some all purpose/surface household appliance cleaner, and wiped it off with a 100% cotton cloth.. It looked as good as new.. depending on the condition of the drum, i don't think that "special cleaners" are needed to clean a drum that only has years of surface dirt, gunk or build-up..Good old fashioned elbow grease, a good cloth, soap and water usually do the trick.. Your drum looks exactly the way mine did when i got it..
Good luck with the process. I personally find it fun doing maintenance jobs like these, but then again, i'm a clean freak ! ;)
