Hello all--has anyone ever used lithium grease to lubricate the bearings on a Lundwig Speed King? And results?
Thanks,

Under "Restoring vintage drums", restoring the speedking. Lots of suggestions. Personally I used blue Harley bearing grease. Lithium tends to harden over time. When I cleaned mine it was like cleaning small rocks out of it.
Just use grease which contains silicone.
My experiencs with lithium grease is that it's good for door lock mechanisms in cars but falls short on super high pressure applications like a car's clutch fork ball and it's longeivity.
Definately try to find a grease that doesn't separate causing the liberated liquid component to ruin anything your speed king touches.
I use a grease called Slick Honey which is a Suspension lube for Mountain Bike suspension,, it is awesome stuff as it is made to take repeated compression forces which is what the springs inside the speed king pedal is going thru.
OK--Many thanks to you and howlermonkey.
