Sonor D-471 Snare Tension Rods Last viewed: 3 days ago

Loading...

I was rebuilding my 1960's D-471 and when I changed heads I noticed that 2 of the the tension rods are 3/8 inch longer than the others... As a result I cannot tighten them down enough to be consistent with the others.

Does anyone have 2 rods that they would like to swap or sell or where I can get these.

The rods that I have that are too long measure 2 1/2 inches from the top of the head to the bottom of the thread. The others are 2 1/8

Can these rods be cut down.. I'm concerned that since the bottom of it has a smooth end that cutting it might make it difficult to catch on to the inside of the lug.

As a temporary fix I can add washers under the head but it does not look right.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Thank you

Yes you can cut them down. I always use a Dremel with a cut off wheel. And then dress the edges with a small file to de burr etc......
