OH Man You STOLE IT!!!

That my friend is a 70's "POP OUTFIT" you are just missing the chrome snare an hi-hat that goes with it. I have a set of these that I have played for 31 years and just love there mellow tone.

You are one lucky dude. I wouldn't let my set go for under 2500. Walking

Didn't the Pop Outfit come with a single sided bass drum as well (according to the catalogs, anyway).

I thought this might be a special order Pop or maybe a Modern Combo but the rack toms are not the correct size to be a modern combo.

Anyway, I received the white pearl outfit yesterday and as far as I can tell, it's pretty sweet. I'm going to set it all up today and get it ready to gig tonight. I don't expect a big difference in this set from the black one I have played the past three weeks but, I can't wait to hear all the, "wasn't that set black pearl last week?" comments. LMAO

I got this all set up and it's in super condition. However, it has some no-name single ply (I think) heads on it that sound too "ringy". I need to get something else on them before tonight. I don't think I'll like this sound. It's so hard to tell in my basement vs the actual venue.

I have Evans G2 clears on the other set and they sounded pretty nice.

I have some G2 coated heads I might use for tonight.

I am imagining something with some edge control. Pinstripes might be too much control.

What is the "preferred" heads for concert toms?

Concert toms are too ringy? WHAT?....Burger Kin

I always recommend single-ply heads for everything except bass drums -in which case, an Emperor is sometimes applicable. If you feel the sound is too ringy, then you might consider some Moon gel or otherwise "outboard" muffling device...but, most of the time, concert toms are less ringy due to the fact that the sound can't bounce around inside it the way the sound can do in a drum with two heads.

Were you serious about asking someone to stop you? No one has said a negative word yet about your 70s Concert tom Slingies--unless you consider the suggestion to drill lug holes into those shells to be a negative comment (mcjnic, haven't you ever heard the statement, "friends don't let friends drill holes?").

my ludwig power fcatory kit. 6 8 10 12 13 14 15 16 concert tom's all have remo pin stripes on them they do seem to cut back on excess ringing and give more bottom end. that true hawaii 50 sound (BIG)

Well, I just got home from tonight's gig and I actually made it though the entire night with those single ply heads [although I took alternates with me] I did use the Moon Gel on the 2 rack toms so it toned them down quite a bit but I was pretty happy with everything overall.

Next week, I'll play a mix of both sets with a black/white/black/white combo. I'll try to post some pics. I don't think it will be as sweet as the blue and red onyx that was posted last week but it might have a pretty cool look.

One thing I'll say about this [concert style] outfit, it sure shows the difference in sound that you get from different heads.

Regardless of my input, we had a great night tonight and the bar was pretty full of dancing, rocking people. A good time was had by all.

This might only be a novice statement but, out of the 30+ drum sets I have owned in my vast 36 months of drumming I must say, I'm certainly starting to favor my Slingerland outfits.

No claims yet. But, I can sure see me becoming a Slingerland fan.

Nope. I'm new to this country. Haven't yet acclimated to your very foreign ways. Quite the education there, Sparky. Whodathunkit?
