how many here put there knowledge to sellers on f=bay and tell them what there drum really is or try to any way is this something prevalent here?

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Just yesterday, a seller was trying to sell a "Slingerland" kit with no badges and weird hardware.

I asked about the badges and he ended the listing when he couldn't find them.

Best part is that he's local and I might be able to pick them up for cheap.

I used to try and help seller's of soda machines with what they had, realistic price etc...

Got beat up with "trying to lowball me" type comments. Funny because wasn't trying to buy the machine. They did not have the $5000 machine they saw on TV.

Anymore don't give a rats arse. Sellers that don't do proper research and have a low price I buy it and don't have any remorse.

I saw the title of this thread and thought this was going to be a thread of praise for guitarists.

I know guitars pretty well, and there is a certain period of Les Pauls (late 60s, not 50s) where just a few different months of production dating will change the value by multiple thousands of dollars. I became fed up with people claiming one over the other on Ebay, so I wrote a webpage about the guitars to educate buyers. I have had emails from all over the world now with people thanking me for it, really rewarding for me.

I used to do that often on Ebay but it became a chore after a while, trying to keep up with all the lies people spout on Ebay just to con a sale. I don't bother any more, caveat emptor.

I have seen many ebay listings for Rogers Big R items that appear to incorporate information from my dating guides. I have also received emails from many countries asking for information about Big R period drums. The dating guides, as well as the emails I answer have all been provided freely. I know there are people who use the information I have provided free for their own profit in buying and selling.

Someday I look forward to cashing in all of those good karma points.

So I track Paiste 602/Sound Creation sales (as in my signature) and have years of data which I analyze on request and make the raw data freely available. I also have a PhD and years of work in applied statistics. So I know a bit about 602s and Sound Creation pricing, right? My data is a happy byproduct of a long project collecting data for exploring certain types of model fitting for data analysis. Anyway...

I once emailed a seller in the UK who had a number of auctions at prices where they were unlikely to sell for a long time. I showed him the expected price ranges based on years of historical data. I didn't lecture him about what he should price them at, just supplied him with information. His reply was that I should shut up, and further that I should stop watching his auctions or he would report me to eBay. Report me to eBay for putting things on my watchlist? Laughing H

There is an idiot that lives about 20 miles from me who has listed the same 6.5 inch import Dynasonic for over 500.00 for nigh on a year now. When he first listed it, I provided the information as to its origin and value. It continues not to sell.
