Slingy Engraved Hoops and my OCD Last viewed: 1 day ago

Loading...

Super-silly question, but is there a general "rule" about where to align engraved Radio King hoops on a shell? My OCD is preventing me from just slapping them on. I figure you line the top and bottom hoop logos between the same lugs, but which ones? In many photos of RK snares I've seen the engraving is aligned between the two lugs to the left of the 3 point strainer. I've also seen the engraving right behind the strainer lever.

What say y'all for both toms and snares?

Oh...and Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza, Happy New Year and all that good stuff! :)

Boy you need to get the Radio King handbook by Cecil B DeMille. It covers this is chapter 112, page 53. x-mas3

Kidding...........

On my snare I put the RK logo over the badge. On the toms I put them so they face out from the kit. I don't think it really matters so whatever makes you happy. The nice thing with the clip hoops is you can really put them anywhere.

BTW I saw your bass hoops on DFO. Looking good!

Hahahahaha!!!! If there was one I'd probably buy it! lol I was thinking the same thing on the toms...engraving facing away from the "cockpit".

I think my hoops turned out great. Not sure why Dean was hating on them so much. I suppose he's seen better. To hijack my own thread here's my bass hoops, courtesy Jack Lawton.

Man I think they look fantastic myself. Not sure on the hating either. To each their own I suppose??? The natural hoop finish with WMP inlays and the marble shell is a real classy look. I'm a big fan. Great job keep up the good work!!

Excellent info. I don't have any catalogs and most scans don't show enough detail. Thanks.

Most of the pics that I have seen, have the engraving above the badge. Snare drums.

Wow........welcome to the club man. I am glad to know other people have the same affliction as me! Labels out, alphabetical order, everything centered.

When I acquired this 13" piccolo Radio King snare drum as a retirement gift from a great customer, the engraving on the top hoop was over the badge. The badge is not centered between lugs. So, I just moved the engraved section to be over the tone control knob which is more centered between lugs. I don't have OCD. But, this placement looks much better to me.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.
