SlingerLeedy 55-56 finishes?

Loading...

Hi all,

Anyone have any info on what finishes were offered during the Leedy brass/oval badge days, following Leedy & Ludwig in '55-56? I picked up a 4.5x14 brass/oval Leedy new era WMP back in March. Up to that point of collecting 4.5x14 new era's, I'd never seen a brass/oval version. Yesterday, Revival posts a BDP version which I quickly added to my collection. I appreciate any insight you can provide.

May have found my answer c/o Mark Cooper. " By 1956, Slingerland-made Leedy drums were being offered as a second line and the drums were basically Slingerland drums with a few features that were unique to Leedy. The 1958 Leedy catalog does not specify which colors were available and states only that pearl and duco finishes are available. Most likely, only the basic colors were offered during the first few years, such as Black Pearl, White Marine and a few sparkle finishes. Many of the Leedy finishes offered were also available on Slingerland drums. However, by 1959, many new and exciting finishes were advertised." http://www.coopersvintagedrums.com/LEEDY%20FINISHES.htm

Interesting story...and I'd have to add that the black pearl specimen of yours is a stunner!

Here's one of mine that's not too common.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.
