Slingerland Tom Mounting Problem Last viewed: 2 days ago

Loading...

Can someone please tell me (with pictures preferably), how to mount a 14 in. 60's era Slingerland rack tom off of a cymbal stand. It doesnt seem that they have normal tom holders with a ball and L arm like Ludwig does. If it's not possible, how else can I get it next to my floor tom without using a snare stand?

Slingerland pioneered "normal" tom mounting hardware in the 60's. A 10x14 mounted tom is no major issue when mounted with either a rail consolette, Set-O-Matic, or the old double mount with the big round ratchet borrowed from the snare drum stand. Of course, the size of your bass drum, and your range of arm reach will figure in to the equation. I gigged with a mid sixties Slingerland set that had a 14x20 bass drum with a 9x13 and a 10x14 mounted on the double ratchet from the early 60's.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

My point is I want a 1 up, 2 down setup- with the 14 being right next to the 16. I already have both rack toms mounted on the bass drum post

I'd put a rims mount on the tom , I reckon the "tidiest" attachment to a cymbal arm is with a gretsch 12.7 arm mount, (fits any 1 inch post).
