Slingerland Stage Band Kit-Need opinions, thoughts and some parts too! Last viewed: 9 hours ago

Hello Everyone!

DISCLAIMER: **This is a duplicate thread (sort of), but with much better and more updated info**

I found a Slingerland Stage Band kit! They have Niles badges, and the "chocolate milk" interiors with re-rings, a block "P" stamped inside the rack and floor toms, and the date stamped in the rack tom is NOV 1966. Please check out the photos, and I'll have some questions following.

Everything pictured (the kit, a Ludwig flat base cymbal stand in great condition, and an old A. Zildjian 24" ride with a small crack along the base of the bell going parallel with the grooves) cost me $120!

The kit front view (8" x 12", 14" x 14" and 14" x 20"):

The kit back view (great head choices: Evans Hydraulics and a Kevlar bass! I want to thank clubdate64 for this gem of a quote from the previous thread: The worst thing that ever happened to drums from the late 60's and early 70's was the 80's). clubdate64, with your permission (and proper credit given), I would love to use that as the quote on my signature here on the forum!

Note the non-original Set-O-Matic (SOM) tom mount, and the original rail mount and cymbal bracket holes filled in:

The badge on the rack tom

The interior of the floor tom (note the leg bracket holes are filled in)

The trademark on the cymbal

They aren't in too bad of shape, really. The shells are in round and there is no damage anywhere.

I want to restore these to their original glory and have a few questions:

1. With the "P" stamp inside the toms, does that mean they originally had a "Pearl" covering, which would also include sparkles?

2. Did the original bass drum mounted cymbal arm bracket have an eye bolt, or was it the same as the spur/floor tom brackets?

3. If the answer to question # 1 above is "Yes", what do you think is more "Slingerland-like": Blue Sparkle or Green Sparkle? I've narrowed it down to those two, as I have other kits with other color sparkles and pearls etc. Also, by wrapping the kit, I can plug all the non-original holes and literally cover them up!

4. If you have any of these era-appropriate parts, please let me know:

-Spurs

-Cymbal arm and bracket for bass drum

-4 hole rail mount (with clip or "thumb" style arm)

-Diamond shaped tom bracket (same size/hole spacing as SOM, but with clip or "thumb" style receiver)

-Floor tom legs/brackets

-12", 6 lug COB stick saver hoop (magnet does not stick to existing hoop)

-14", 8 lug COB stick saver hoop (magnet does not stick to existing hoop)

Thanks and I'll look forward to your feedback!

The large P stamped inside does mean Pearl wrap or a wrapped shell. the cymbal mount is just like the one's used for floor tom leg bracket mounts with a T thumb screw to anchor it down.
