Slingerland Spur Problem Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Loading...

I gigged with my 70's Slingerlands last night and the entire time, the bass drum kept sliding forward on my rug. I looked at the tips of the spurs and the tips were completely dull! Is this normal? Im guessing this was the reason the drum was sliding. Any advice??

Here's a pic of mine. It does have a dull point to it. Maybe a rubber tip would help hold better? I've only had my kit a short time but no slippage as of yet?

+1 on the rubber tips. The small Gibraltar floor tom feet should fit. Or you can get 3/8" vacuum caps from NAPA for $1 a piece. I would cram a #6 washer down to the bottom of it, if you go that route, to keep the tip from poking through the rubber cap. Or, get a hoop-mounted BD anchor.

Good luck! Bass drum creep sucks!

I'm no guru, just a vintage drum junkie!
