I know tons about Ludwig, but Im not really a slingerland guy. With that said, how rare is orange or tangerine sparkle? Not sure what it was officially called. Got a mint 5x14 snare here in that color.
slingerland orange sparkle?
According to the Slingerland Book, the Sparkling Orange Pearl was manufactured between 1970 - 1973. I don't know how many were manufactured but I can say that in 51 years, I've never seen one! Cheers
“I did not trip and fall. I attacked the floor and I believe I am winning.”
I have a complete set (12/13/16/20) with matching snare that I'm actually thinking about selling; I believe mine is from 1971.
If you're interested in selling the snare, I know someone who may be interested - he actually has a 14" orange sparkle floor tom!!
I seem to have a thing for orange drums (I have Tangerine and Burnt orange Gretsch and some Mod Orange Ludwig Elements) but I have only ever seen one orange sparkle Slingerland in person, and that was a marching snare.
My heart stopped. Amazing.
That's interesting. I know they are hard to find. Artpop set is beautiful, and I really wanted to buy it, unfortunately I am unable to purchase at this time. I am however, interested in the snare, if you could post picture and price, or leave me a message, Iamdrummer.
Artpop! I remember this kit from your previous post. It is in incredibly fine condition. Even more rare is the matching Artist snare drum. Slingerland's "go to" snare drum for just about all kits during the late 60's and almost all of the 70's was the COB Sound King snare drum. Your Artist would have been a special order.
My kit, in the same configuration as yours, is in Sparkling Purple Pearl. Just about as rare as Sparkling Orange!

It's not quite as nice as it looks - a prior owner had changed out the spur mounts and put in a few extra holes, which I plugged and filled with Super Tangerine Glass Glitter from Precision (a little darker, but a dead on match of the chunks of glass), and also replaced the hoop inlay with the same. The 13" is a little oversized, as regular heads fit really tight (Aquarian Vintage heads fit fine). It has a few scuffs and bumps, but the wrap is really nice and bright - I don't see any fade under any lugs.
I'm actually thinking of selling it, but I'm not sure what to price it at with those issues.
