Slingerland, Modern Solo, 2-N

Hi All,

I am looking for a 1970 - 1973 Slingerland Modern Solo kit, 2- N, from what I understand this set up was offered from 1970 - 1973. The question I have, did this model come with a sparkle orange pearl finish? That to, was available from 1970- 1973 ?

Hi Bucky!

The Modern Solo 2R (not 2N), was offered from 1963 -1978. It first appeared with dual 12" rack toms, 16" floor tom and 20" bass drum. Eventually, the toms changed to 12" and 13", with either a 20" or 22" bass drum. Tom holders also changed, from the original ratchet style to the Setomatic. There was also a "New Rock 50N" outfit, also with 12/13/16 toms and choice of 20" or 22" bass drums. The only difference in the two sets were the hardware stands...flush base for the Modern Solo and tripod base for the New Rock.

Yes, Sparkling Orange Pearl was offered for a short time in the early 70's. Not really sure if you'd ever find one of these kits wrapped in that finish!

Attached are pictures of my 1970-71 kit, in original Sparkling Purple Pearl, set up as both the Modern Solo and New Rock outfits!
