I am new here and I find some great imformation on this site. I need your input. I have this early 70's Slingerland Gene Krupa 5X14 sound king snare. It is very clean and for a COB there is almost no pitting of any kind. The snare strainer is flawless and when this drum is played it sounds wonderful. I know there is some value here but ............any Idea of what I could expect??

Yours is quite clean, indeed! I believe, unless corrected otherwise, you could expect 250-350. I say keep and enjoy her.
*Edit* Yours would be on the high end of that, IMHO. However, the ones listed on feebay for 450+ aren't selling. It might, considering the premium condition and good photos.
Thanks. Yes it is very clean and I would say no real pitting issues. I sounds so good I just may keep it. The only thing that bothers me is that I cant find any parts for the darn thing (dont need now but in the future). The zoomatic strainter is almost non existant.Help2
These are great drums, highly underrated, and undervalued in my opinion.
The last one I saw sell was right here on the Forum for $150.00
I have owned three in the past three years, still have one, and never paid over $200 for any of them.
It's just the "Slingerland costs less stigma" that keeps the price down on these snares.
They are worth more, I think.
I agree also. I bought one for about $150 and it is one of my best sounding snares. I use it at a jam session and let other drummers play on it and every one asks me how I get it to sound like it does.

Does your drum have COB rims?
I bought one for $150.00 from Fungus and sold it for $150.00 to ShawnM. The drum I sold was clean but not like this one. This one is squeaky clean.
I currently have the 12 lug spitfire version of this drum and it is fantastic. It is a drier drum than the Krupa. Almost has a woody quality to it, like bronze.
I'll eventually get another Krupa, though.
^^^ I got one for a smidge less than that. But it's a beauty and love the sound. Giggity. :)
I just picked one up with a Slingy kit I bought last night. Great snare drum.
