OK, I need some expert opinions on a Slingerland kit in a green satin flame finish that I may buy. Now, I don't have any pics, but I'll try to describe it the best I can.

The kit is from the mid 60's with a 12,12,16,20, the wrap is about a 5 out of 10. The kick hoops have no inlays and may not be original, the two toms have the clip tom mount, but some bozo decided he wanted Ludwig mounts, so they put them on the opposite side of the clip mounts and put them about 1/4 inch from the bottom hoop, I know, IDIOT! The floor tom leg mounts are not original and has extra holes as well for the different mounts. All heads would need to be changed.

So, needless to say, this is a definitely a players kit. What would be a fair price to offer? Thanks.

You have been around long enough to know the basics so I won't insult your intelligence with that.

60s Slingerland drums are a good draw.

Satin Flames don't age well.

Mods will take a hit.

Missing items like inlay take a hit.

I wouldn't pay more than 250 to 300 for the kit.

Assuming the wrap is bad and the mods are obvious, I would rewrap it in an Aqua Blue Satin Flame for that surf music look. Plug the holes and go. It would turn for what I would sink into it and I would have a fun kit until I felt like parting with it.

How is the hardware? Non pitted clean will bring the price up a bit. If you take the time to polish.

Well, the hardware is ok, not much pitting, but could use a good cleaning. If the guy won't take $300 -350, then I'm going to pass, thanks.

12/12? Two toms of the same size? jst asking. I've seen this before on Slingy's (I think). Makes no sense. You'd still get that great sound from the kit though. $250?

12/12 toms sound like an early Slingerland Modern Solo. Why were people so hard on these Green Satin Flame kits?? I picked these up at a yard sale years ago... used and abused. :(
