slingerland drum set

Hi,

I am new to the forum. This seems like a great site ! I was hoping someone out there would have some info for me. I am interested in info re: a 1970's slingerland drum set...it is red, white and blue sparkle stripes..put you in mind of the bicentennial or a flag. Did slingerland put out a limited # of these..or is it custom made. I can't find hardly any info at all on these. I wondered also how much they would be worth...thanks in advance for any info....woolf

Welcome. I'm a newbie, too. I saw one of these bicentennial kits just outside of Buffalo, NY about 8 years ago. It was NOS in a music store and was absolutely pristine. I drooled a bit and moved on.....kick kick kick kick. I should have bitten the bullet and picked it up. This store also had a large stock of NOS Zildjian cymbals from the 70's. I could only assume he didn't sell much stock. It was a small store in a very small town up there. I regret not dropping a wad of cash in there, but............oh well. So, does it exist? Yes. Is it factory fresh? Yes. Was it custom? No. It was a regular store order and it looked really sweet. Good luck with yours. Nice find.

For a value, we need the sizes and a photo might help us get in to the Red-White-Blue!

But quick answer is...yes...these were limited production...or custom production.

That finish was not a standard one offered. I have known a few blokes who had these kits, though. So, not one-of-a-kinds, but somewhat rarer than their standard fare.
