I have a set of Slingerland shells with the badge location towards the top of the drums between the lugs...I've never seen Slingerland drums with the badge location there...does anyone know if Slingerland ever produced drums with the badge location there...

Yes they did.. I don't know the time frame but I have seen some with the badges between the lugs of toms..not many.. (there is a tom on Ebay at present with the same badge location as yours).
