selling on eBay? Last viewed: 6 hours ago

I haven't been paying attention on eBay's fees lately. I listed some drums for sale there yesterday and just out of curiosity I went to the site and used eBay's fee calculator. I was shocked to see my simple BIN at $5000usd (no Gallery - just their free photo package) no extras just the very simplest listing was $500! I thought they had a ceiling of $150 or so - the last time I looked they did. Or am I using the calculator wrong? Anybody here sell a lot on eBay and can weigh in on this? Is $500 a reasonable fee?

I was under the impresion that it is 10 percent no matter what when it is all said and done

Been a seller for close to 10 years. I believe the fee went to 10% to pay taxes. A couple years ago, the states were trying to receive the sales tax for each state/individual seller.....tough job to try to straighten out, so they collect from eBay now.

This is what I understand, though it might be way off base.

Place your phone number on the listing...then the potential buyer/buyers will call you if interested. Then pull the listing and sell to them direct. Not happy with the way things have been going on with them. Crooks.

Reverb.com Due to less traffic, your stuff might not sell as fast as it would on Ebay , but the fees are 3.5% and nothing to list. Great customer service and they cater to musical instruments. I like it over there.
