Hi Hobbs! Well, let's see...

Hey Craig!

I've relicked the magical hallucinogenic frog & am tweaking out. Anyway, that HH stand looks pretty nice. I know you're the resident Standards expert You've probably a barnfull of just the rubies, I'd wager -

$125 is good. You did fine. Keep em and play the waiting game to complete the set. You have a lifetime, that's the good part...

$125 is a pretty good deal. You can sell the other rack tom and floor tom as MIJ orphans and recoup over half of your initial investment. Rootbeer swirl is a pretty popular MIJ color.

They look great even before cleaning! I think I'll only keep the Standard pedal on top of the three drums and push the rest out of the door. I have a few other drum projects going on right now so I will definitely wait but keep an eye out for a 13" and floor tom.

I will post a few more detail pics tomorrow. I do love that freakin' finish

Hi Bondo,

'Looks like those Standards are in nice shape! At $125 I'd say you did well with this find.

I really like this color and your drums look bright & viberant.

I would surmize, judging by the cymbal mount on your bass drum, that this set originally had only one mounted tom. Thus, the 'creative' double tom mount on the post.

Thanks Mark (and everyone for your help). So to keep this "true" I should not look for a 13". It did appear to me that it was probably a four piece as are other kits of the era with the cymbal mount. The finish is so bright it is like a new kit and I haven't even started to clean them! It is funny that Ludwig tried to make a cheap set to compete with imports yet the "cheap" kit is quality and in demand 40 years later. Good stuff. I think I found my mid life crisis niche.

Okay! Bondo, is that a 20 or 22" Bass... You're right, that is not the correct tree and snare muffler. The correct muffler is on the rack tom, or at least it looks correct. The strainer also may not be correct. I don't remember what year that one came out. Most have a P-83 strainer that I've seen. However, they do fail, and if so, it's lucky they did the next in line... all the holes match, etc... it's still Ludwig.

Let me know about that bass drum size, please.

Hi Craig,

It is a 20" kick. Yes, I forgot to mention the throw off also. Same as on my Vistilites so I figured it was replaced as well. Thats great it fits though! I will add and upgrade as needed. A set with a floor tom and two mounted toms appeared on ebay today but need work.
