Tragedy struck these drums in the 80s, when the young owner, tired of the beauty of the tobacco sunburst finish and pining for a black drum set ala WASP and so many others, painted these drums black. You can see the tobacco sunburst finish I've sanded down to on the base of the bass drum. That individual also decided to upgrade the front bass drum hardware with Pearl. Extra holes were added at each lug (see photo below), but these holes are covered with the Rogers lugs that have been replaced. Front claws are also newer import Rogers. An individual with more time than myself may be able to restore these back to their glory. You know the 8 plies of North American real hard rock maple sound terrific, and with the introduction of the memri-loc system, you can 'set it and forget it'.
