It is interesting to think all those serial numbers could result in a kit being assembled and shipped out. Under the circumstances, it is equally amazing when you see a kit with close serial numbers, no crossed-out/hand-written labels and all the odd stuff we've seen with Rogers drums. The closest I've seen in person is a set I still have from 1968 with the following series:
104208
104519
104597
Difference of 389
There is a set for sale on this site in champagne sparkle that has very tight 1965 (or so) numbers:
49899
49984
49628
Difference of 271, even closer!
9866 - PowerTone snare
I also have a set I got recently from airborneAFC, which has the following series, but is quite obviously a set that has been together based on tone of the wrap and overall deterioration of same and completeness of drums with almost all correct parts (only one side of the bass head hardware missing and the rest as from factory):
Cleveland 12724 Bv spkl Slotted hex head/star
Cleveland 7974 Bv spkl Slotted hex head/star
Fullerton 13640 Bv spkl Slotted hex head/fender
This is at least as far off and possibly even more so than the drums of the original post. So I agree with Ploughman that there is not necessarily a reason to think that set wasn't together from day one. I think it is even more likely if it is a Top-Hat set (twin 12's), not a set that seems to have had something added later.
