Rogers Superten Last viewed: 10 minutes ago

OK, I found this snare that has Rogers hardware and a badge that says Superten. The shell looks like a 3ply with reinforcement hoops and a white interior. Anyone know what this might be? Thanks.

Very interesting! I can pretty much tell that it's not an original Rogers Superten. The shell almost looks like a Ludwig, but I can't be certain based on the supplied pictures. Does it look like there are extra holes for the lugs? The Rogers lugs are spaced at 1-15/16" and the Ludwig's would be 2-3/16", so there would definitely be extra/plugged holes. What can you tell by looking at the shell?

There does not appear to be any extra holes or holes that were plugged up. It looks like a Ludwig shell to me too, but I don't know of any ten lug 3ply Ludwig snares. Here are a few more pics of the interior, thanks.

Parts are Rogers, hoops are Rogers, shell is not Rogers. This is someones homemade drum.

There are extra holes under the throw off.

I certainly agree that this is a homemade drum. Still cool, though! Try removing some lugs and see if you can tell if the holes have been altered at all. Other than the extra hole(s) for the strainer, can you see any other extra holes? It would almost seem that someone obtained this as a blank shell and drilled for all the Rogers hardware. Might have had a different strainer at some point in time. This is definitely an nice drum with a cool history. See what you can find out!

Mike, see the Gina Schock Superten thread.

Yes, they did make them, 1981-1983. Natural Maple finish only.

There are no extra holes, what you are seeing is one hole that was drilled a bit bigger than the washer.

Pardon, Oversized hole, must have been the first one drilled.
