Rogers Red onyx rewraps ????

Loading...

I have a Cleveland Holiday set with cracks in the wraps. The bass drum being very bad. I was told you can get a similar wrap of the red onyx but not exact. I love vintage, but I also like mint. Also do I lose the value by rewrapping them or not??? What should I do ?????thanks

Welcome to VDF!

All depends on whether they are keepers, or for resale. If they're keepers and the wrap is cracked, rewrap them and enjoy them. If they are for resale, you'll lose 1/3 to 1/2 the value it has as an original vintage kit.

Your call...

John

PS - The wrap is already FUBAR. You won't get full market value anyway. May as well wrap them so they look great and resale value be damned.

Too many great drums to list here!

I had Precision Drum wrap my Rogers floor tom in their Red Onyx and it was an extremely close match to the rest of my kit. Ask them to send you a sample of their wrap so that you can compare it with the wrap on the rest of your drums. They normally do that for free. Good luck!

All I can add is "ditto" to what Purdie Shuffle and OldSchool have said. Sound Advice. And, the folks at Precision are very good and very fast about getting samples out. Very easy to work with!

Go for it!

I've seen the available blue onyx and couldn't differentiate it from the original, so I imagine the red is a very good match too.

Regarding value, it's a toss up between a rewrap and a severely spitting original wrap...If I were re-selling the set I'd leave it...if I was pretty sure I'd be using it for a while, I'd consider the rewrap.

I'd also recommend Precision...great work and fast turnaround.

Yes, fine folks at Precision Drum! I've been doing business with them for decades! But, even they make mistakes. I just sent an email to Gary at PDC just a few minutes ago, asking where my wrap samples are. They promised to send them to me back on August 28. I also requested a few other colors as well. I'm sure it's just an oversight and Gary will certainly apologize and get the samples out by the end of this week!
