As a lefty...? Almost $5k...

Nope....and I would love to see it happen...

Cause I have something very similar / however as a lefty..

the tom mount is in a diff/ spot for a reg/ drummer to manage..

My guess with the minor wrap cracking and being a lefty..

I would say Low $3's max..!

Anybody want to start a lottery on this..lol.

My number is $3200 (USA funds of course).

Why does that wrap not look correct?

While I like the color, I'm not covinced of this kit's provenance. The seller's disclaimer is repeated twice in the explanations. No serial #'s are provided. Just seems too gimmicky for $5k, IMHO. Perhaps a Rogers guru could check in and comment on "lefty" kits. Just a reversed mount, and perhaps badge.

well...

heres a small observation..

The rack tom that is grey inside while the rest our speckled...

My comment is that / the paper tag looks to have absorbed some moisture..

Maybe & just maybe / the inside was repainted and a new tag was installed before it was properly dried.!

Just for the record / I'm not an envious guy..

The wrap has some minor/minor issues with the cracking at the over lap..

I like it..

Its just my opinion that this isn't a 5k or 4k kit...

Hello all, I've been a reader & I guess you could say "lurker" on this sight for a long time but finally joined to jump in on this thread because I found it too interesting to pass up (and am very tempted to bid).

Mike, there are pics of all the tags & serial #'s with labels telling which tag is from which drum.

I've been looking for an original Rogers bop kit for a long time (3 years) & haven't seen anything legit for sale in forever. I've played 60's Camco & Gretsch bop sets before (which were awesome) but have always wanted a 60's Rogers bop kit because as far as tuning range goes, Rogers takes the cake due to their bearing edge profiles (in my humble opinion, & I've owned 60's kits by all the big boys).

The lefty thing doesn't bug me because a.) anytime I'd be playing or recording with them, the 12" would either be rims mounted or in a snare basket. I'd just put a Rogers Ride stand in the tom mount.

As far as originality, I'm always concerned with that, but...1.) I can't imagine someone piecing together a matching red onyx bop set with all equally faded "Franks Drum Shop" stickers on every drum & every drum is in the same condition including the hardware. 2.) The fact that the 12 & 18 are factory lefty (no extra holes), & the badge nails look perfect & un-tampered with coupled with the Franks stickers is enough evidence for me to rule out the potential of it being a pieced together set. 3.) Potentially damaging their Ebay reputation over 1 bogus drum set just doesn't seem logical. The seller has nice drums for sale & great feedback (from buyers & sellers I recognize). All things I take into consideration when thinking about bidding on a high $ item.

I thought about the comment above on the 12" interior being repainted as well. First, it looks the same as any other flat gray interior Rogers I have ever seen or owned & see nothing suspect about it or the label. Second, if someone were going to take the time to re-paint the interior of one drum in a highly collectable kit, to me it would only make sense for them to match it to the other drums (which are speckled, not flat gray).

As far as price: This is something that I've thought about the most. What do you price it off of? What do you compare it to? Has anyone seen one sell recently or have any comparison reference? Maybe I'm suffering from infatuation on this kit, but I love Red Onyx, I love Rogers, & I love 18" bass drums. You guys have me concerned with your comments about it being lefty though. I've been collecting for a while & it has never dawned on me that lefty kits were worth less. What are you basing this off of or what am I missing? If I bid & win, am I setting myself up to own a "white elephant" of a set because it's lefty? I would think the rareness of a set like this would trump certain things such as that (or make it even more rare for that matter).

I know this is long winded for a first post, but I'd appreciate your guys input on this because I can't stop thinking about this set. It has me hypnotized! I don't want to make an impulse buy, but it all looks legitimate to me.

Any Rogers experts out there?
