Are you referring to using the plastic strip to attach the butt end of the wires? I have found the same thing, and it does help the wires sit better. Thanks for reminding me.

I find the Grosgrain Ribbon (any fabric store) works similar to the plastic strip, but is more flexible, allowing a flatter sitting wire set.

Thanks! I do need to get some of those. I had forgotten how well ribbon works on the butt end of Rogers snares, especially the brass ones.
