What exactly is the Holiday model on a Rogers kit? Wondering specifically what makes a Holiday a Holiday.

Easiest way is look for Holiday paper tag. Often the same shells as other "models" later in the timeline. Early - late 60's era.

Holiday wasn't a specific configuration of a kit; it was the model name of the Cleveland and Dayton toms and basses which were used in kits up until the 1970 move to Fullerton. The Fullerton toms and basses were labeled "Power Tone" until the 9/72 series eliminated model names entirely.

To be specific, Holiday was the top of the line for Rogers drums. Lesser models can be studied in the catalogs shown in the link of this site under 'Visit Our Partner Websites' and then Vintage Drum Catalogs. Go to the Rogers portion.

One might speculate that the name was a marketing idea to convey the concept that their drums would performs so well that it would be as if to give drummer's a holiday from all their troubles using other brands. Again, speculation.

What did you find for color?

Just got them in but I'll take a closer look tonight...but I believe they were a Dayton Fullerton mix when I was discussing with the seller. I'll confirm though. I'm totally thrilled though...one of my dream kits that I've been wanting in that color and size combination!

Here's Dick Dodd using a 20,12,14 black diamond pearl in a Louis Bellson or maybe Citation configuration. Same, just differing catalog dates, but only has the tom mount without a cymbal mount on the bass. Given this is a '66, guess it would be a Louis Bellson named kit.
