Rogers Holiday Set 64 ID Last viewed: 5 hours ago

I am trying to learn more about this set of drums I got new around January, 1965 from a mail order company in Chicago. As I recall they were sold as a Rogers Holiday Set for around $550 to $650. My Dad (95) is pretty sure he still has the original, bill and the catalog, in his files and I will look for them in a week or so.

I have looked at a lot photos of Rogers drums on the Internet and some of the features are not consistent with my set. I got some of the equipment out of the closet and snapped shots on my iPhone. I assume these drums were made in Cleveland from the time frame, and the flat grey paint inside. There are no stickers or serial numbers that I can find, and the only marker other than a stick on label is Rogers on the snare ends.

(Just realized I can't upload the photos, so I will try to get them on a site where I can show them here via links).

The set included a high hat, crash, and ride - unknown brand. I added a 20" Paiste Formula 602.

Overall, the drums are in good condition. They have rarely been used since 1970. I would just like to know if they are authentic, and what the value might be.

Why would you say they are not Rogers? There have been oddities in the realm of hardware where transition Rogers is concerned. I would have to disagree here. They "may" be Rogers. A more close examination is necessary. Neato looking kit.

Here's one of several threads that reference Rogers kits similar to this one.

Thanks for the link RogerSling. I followed the links back to eBay where there are more photos and the hardware on that set matches up on almost everything I questioned. The floor tom legs on mine are different, but I have since found a Rogers set in the Gallery on this site that matches mine.

Wheelgun - Thank you as well. I found a few photos of Kent drums and some of the hardware is similar.

For the benefit of anyone else trying to identify similar kits:

I found a 99 page 1964 Rogers catalog on drumarchive.com. In the parts section I found matches for many items such as the foot pedal, the bass muffler, the snare strainer, floor tom legs, etc. The hi-hat and snare stand were not in the catalog, but both were made by Dewey, which was a supplier for Rogers.

Since this kit came from a large mail order company, I wonder if Rogers was trying to provide them with a generic type product to ease competitive concerns among their regular dealers.

I remember that WMP kit discussion. Pretty cool kit if you ask me.

Festus, thanks for the drum archive.com tip. I didn't know about that one and saved to me favs. And it's amazing you've had this kit since then. And if your Dad still has the paperwork, wow major bonus. Beautiful drums.

Good stuff guys. Clapping Happy2
