Hey Mark,

I think WB nailed it with early 60's. Many of the first generation Knobbies had the pull screws diagonal to the opening, in addition to 2 channels in the Knobby as well, also diagonal.

I'm curious if the mounts were installed when the floor was made in 1958. Maybe it was ordered with Rogers mounts. There are no extra holes, so it doesn't look like it ever had Slingerland leg mounts.

The 1960 catalog shows both the "diagonal" 4-channel Knobby available as well as the single channel, straight Knobby, but the Knobbies for the FT tom legs have a raised base to "clear flanged hoops" as the catalog describes. I believe the catalog is describing this FT leg mount (picture recently posted by member BigE)

So I think the FT leg Knobbies on that Slingerland are post-1958 and could not have been ordered at the same time as the floor tom (and how could you order a Slingy FT with Rogers mounts?).

The question should be to the Slingy experts... are the two holes for the normal Slingy leg mount spaced the same as the two vertical holes on the Rogers Knobby? Did someone simply remove the original Slingy leg mounts and add the Roger Knobby without redrilling the two original holes?

Those are all valid questions, I don't know if the hole spacing is the same. I had heard that in those days you could make special orders with mounts from other companies.

Very true on the special orders from other companies and Rogers swivo mounts were in high demand and you`ll find them on alot of different brands from the 60`s especially.
