Hi,
How do I determine if I have correct dyna wires on mine.
I think it's a 60's drum.
I imagine if they are Puresound it will say so.
It sounds great as is.
Thnx

The Puresounds have Puresound written on them and are brass. The Rogers are metal and have 19 strands (yeah weird!). More love for the Dynasonic (that got played all afternoon)!!!
Yarp... if they're Puresounds, it will say so.
Just to be sure... send me the drum for inspection! My eyes ain't what they used to be, so it might a few months or a year before I can get it back to you. :p
'Sounds like' you have a nice, original drum! Enjoy it...
Send VDF member Fer428 (Glenn,) a PM and ask him to put you on the list for a Rogers Dynasonic drum tag! He's going to print up a few repro's of the original tag that came wired to the drum with instructions on how to properly set-up the unit. It's a cool thing to have especially if you have a 60's DYNA.
Ask and ye shall receive!

I have it packed up, and I'll it get it out to you overnight. Will include some cash for your appraisal charges.
LOL
I did put in my request for a drum tag
Very nice of him to network like that.
Thanks everyone for the input .. I think I'm going to have to hunt a frame, and the pure sound wires so I can get that sweet dyna sound everyone is talking about . Mine sounds fine right now but I do have a feeling once I add the frame, and the right wires it should sound pretty sweet!! Which Snare you guys prefer, the dynasonic or the ludwig 60s supraphonic snare? Just curious cause I know some one that wants to trade me for my dyna .
Biggggggggggggg difference. The snare frame is what makes a Dyna a Dyna. You got one for $20 wow killer deal. The frames are usually available on ebay I've seen them anywhere from $75 to $125. Puresound makes snare wires for them. There's also a frame that's new being made from the original mold available on the bay for $80.http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-ROGERS-DYNASONIC-SNARE-DRUM-FRAME-AND-WIRES-Bridge-/221284779291?pt=Vintgae_Drums_Percussion&hash=item338599c51bhttp://www.ebay.com/itm/ROGERS-DYNASONIC-SNARE-FRAME-/300971440847?pt=US_Drums&hash=item46134bbacfhttp://www.ebay.com/itm/Puresound-Snare-Wire-Vintage-14-Rogers-Dynasonic-PD1416-New-/281096119263?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4172a263df
Thanks for the links man !!

Supra or Dyna?... apples and oranges. The Dyna, with its bridge system would be more comparable to Ludwig's Super Sensitive. Yes, the Supra is perhaps the most popular "go-to" snare for many professional and amateur drummers, a real workhorse, but the Dyna and the Super are more intricate instruments requiring a little more finesse. This intricacy requires a little more attention and effort in proper tuning and setup, but it's worth it. Some working drummers just don't want to spend the time necessary to properly set the snares on both the Dyna and the Super (with the Super requiring even more effort as each individual snare wire has separate tension adjustments).
Supra or Dyna? Those of us who own both and play both will tell you that each has its place. The Supra holds up great in any rock or R&B band, and will take quite a beating, but for jazz or orchestral work, I'll go to one of my COB Dyna's any day, all day.
Do not trade your Dyna for a Supra. Keep the Dyna and buy a Supra.

+1 on this good advice! While you're at it get an Acro too!
Last year I traded a Supra for a Dyna-Sonic. And we were both happy.
I got a 6.5 COB 1975 Dyna, he got a 1977 5x14 Supra.
Um, the Supra is a much drier drum than the same size Dyna-Sonic. The tone is radically different, the pitch is lower. The Dyna is more sensitive, properly set up, far more lively, and brighter.
I am not a Ludwig hater, just a Rogers lover.
Oh, and on the Acrolite, do buy one. Every drummer ought to have that drum, just so he can demonstrate you don't need to spend 800 bucks on a clown posse vented snare to have good sound.
Had a good friend, talented drummer and drumsmith drop by today. Gave him a shell and we hit snares for a bit. He reminded me how I sold him a hammered brass 6 1/2" Ludwig about 25 years ago for not much (funded a fraction of my PIT/USA club tour) After I recovered from that; he asked to play my wood Dyna and then a Powertone; commented on the fabulous dry snap of the Dyna. Funny thing is that properly set up, the Dyna needs almost zero tension on the bridge dial and not much at all on the throw.
The answer to your OP is - heck yes! But like a good recipe, all the ingredients have to be present for the system to work. Amazing drums. Zen with the correct setup. Thanks Longroll!
