Rogers guys, I keep seeing ALOT of drums that have 9/72 stamped on the lables, at first I thought it meant made in Sept 1972 but now I'm beginning to wonder!? Was 9/72 just a really prolific month at the Rogers factory or does it mean something else?

The same label was used for several years from the Fullerton era. Does not stand for any meaningful date.

Roger's Fullerton 9/72 series was in production 1972 through 1975, and was the last of the Swivo era Rogers (The Big R's started in 1976). Drum historian Rob Cook dates the 9/72 series by their serial numbers as follows:

1972 - Serial number underlined with no prefix letter

1973 - Prefix letter "A" followed by serial number

1974 - Prefix letter "B" followed by serial number

1975 - Serial number not underlined with no prefix letter

Rogers tags are not an exact science and don't definitively date your particular drum, but this is a good guideline. I ordered an 8-piece double bass set in July, 1975, and when they finally arrived in September, they all had the 1974 "B" serial numbers (either leftover tags from 1974 or I just received older stock).
