NOT FOR SALE ANYMORE!

Hi there,

I don't really think it makes sense to re-import this set to the States, but perhaps someone from Europe is interested in a complete and very very clean 1961 Cleveland B&B drum kit with 20BD 12HT 14SD and two 14FT, two swan leg cymbal stands, pedal, hihat, adjustable L-cymbal arm, Giant snare stand and a end-60's Samson throne. 90% of the lugs are uncracked, perhaps 10% with hairlines. Wrap is neat, chrome is shiny, everything in a beautiful condition.

Located in Germany.

Best wishes

Martin

Beautiful set Martin! To assist with any potential American buyers, here's a translation of your eBay listing:

New year - new price! To refinance a new acquisition...

For sale Rogers Cleveland Holiday kit, "Bread & butter" lugs, in Jet Black. Black set with B&B lugs are extremely rare. BD, HT and FT came together from one reputable seller in the States who, as the second owner, assured that they were bought together. The serial numbers are quite close, and with Rogers you might deviate even on the same kit by a thousand. Fortunately, I came by the second floor tom accidently here in Germany. I always wanted to have a double floor tom set, and was quite happy to find it, especially since the serial number fit in the range. 14” floor toms have become almost unaffordable.

I never found the matching snare drum. I had a similar one with good lugs and sent it to Mr. Stegner of ST-Drums in the United States to have it rewrapped. Hence the small holes in the label. The Rogers logo had to be removed and reinstalled again.

One can never say exactly the date of these Rogers due to lack of date stamps. It would have to be after 1961. The snare could also be 1962. Shells are all grey inside, as they should be. BD and Tom are 3ply Jasper shells with reinforcement rings and the classic round bearing edges, the snare drum has a Keller shell from the bearing edges present.

The B & B lugs tend to break. I've not exactly counted, but 90 percent are totally intact and the others have minimal hairline cracks. This is important as these lugs are quite expensive. About a dozen were ordered from the United States and replaced. Wrap and chrome are very good. The matching and original tall-boy hoops are on all drums. These hoops are slightly higher.

Original Swivomatic pedal and a Swivomatic Hi-Hat included. Both first - right - generation with the slightly old-fashioned-looking footboards. Also included are two Swan-leg stands with end caps (they were straight legs from the end of the 60's) and a Giant snare stand.

Samson throne is mid to late 60's. There is no practical Rogers throne from the early 60s. At least I've never seen one. The fragile cast bottom is intact. Also the very rare, height adjustable L-arm Swivo cymbal holder is included as well as the tom holder. From my perspective everything is - except for the felt washers - original and without rust or any damage.

Of course, the cymbals are not included!

There are some small defects: A floor tom hoop has a small dent, and the ball joint of the tom holder is slightly notchy. Once it’s set, it’s bombproof. I have replaced the original felt straps on the BD.

The sizes and serial numbers: BD 20 x 14: 24482, HT 12 x 8: 24253, FT 14 x 14: 23579, 14 x 14: 21797, SD 14 x 5: 27898.

The whole set is matching and enjoys an excellent state of preservation. There is a second BD reso head with Rogers logo and tuned-hole, plus the original catalog from the year 1960 and a Rogers drum key.

All in all, a visual and aural treat, no longer to be found in this condition. Not even in Europe. Would be nice if the set would remain together and find a new loving home. If it sells, please pick up in Cologne. I would be willing to meet within 200 or 300 km.

Gorgeous kit Martin. Must be a hard one to sell off. Good luck, but I'd surprised if someone on your side doesn't want it and that would avoid the risks associated with international shipping, especially in cold weather.

I got a second one with beavertails in grey ripple. And I bought a preserial Ludwig in WMP. So this one has to leave....

There are only a few Rogers fans in Germany and they are not really used to the prices in the States. Maybe the time is working for me :-)

Thanks for all your help and appreciation!

I fear this set doesn't sell here in Germany. I never had a problem with them but all possible clients were afraid of the Bread and Butter lugs.

I decided to keep it and sell my beavertail set in Steel Grey Ripple. Yo will find it in another post. Here is the link:
