Just heard that Jack Bruce passed. What a fantastic bassist he was! He will be dearly missed."If there's a rock'n'roll heaven..."

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Indeed. Gotta say, even with my infatuation with Buddy Rich and his big band, well... I loved Cream back in the day! Jack Bruce was a HUGE piece of that trio what with his writing credits, bass playing, and of course his vocals. Another one gone. SIGH. In the spirit of celebrating Jack Bruce, here's one from my TOP THREE in the Jack Bruce/Cream catalog. SWLABR, which of interest means: "She Was Like A Bearded Rainbow" . Back when this came out on the Disraeli Gears album, none of us knew what SWLABR meant! Gotta love Jack Bruce!

Saw Cream at the Fillmore east in 68.I'll never forget it.I bought Fresh Cream while still in Grade School, while everybody else was listening the to 1910 Fruitgum Company and the Archies. It knocked my socks off,as did Jacks bass playing and vocs.I'll miss you Jack......part of the soundtrack of my life.Rest easy mate.

Loved Jack with Cream... "Fresh Cream" was the first "stereo" Lp that I ever owned... at the time we were performing Beatles & Stones but listening to Cream, Floyd etc.. So many classic bass lines came from that man.

I think some of his best playing was early 70's when working with Allan Holdsworth and the Tony Williams Lifetime...

However rumour has it, that it was actually the liver that rejected his body... RIP Jack

Cheers

Steve, you should write a book someday about the shows you have seen. I'd buy it.

p.s. For the record, I was never into the 1910 Fruitgum Co.
