The only LP I don't have is the soundtrack to "Head." I'm really not sure how I missed that one. Now, here I am, off-topic again... but PLEASE somebody help me!What was on the flip side of the 45 that had "A Little Bit of You and A Little Bit of Me?" They were recorded between the first and second albums, but didn't make it on an album (until "A Little Bit..." made it on their greatest hits album). I had the 45, but lost it years ago...

The record's B-side was Michael Nesmith's "The Girl I Knew Somewhere"

60'sOldLudwigs: Thank you very much, sir! You made my day. Like many of the contributors to this posting, I feel that a part of my own youth has been lost. Man, those were innocent times! The Monkees seemed to encapsulate all that was simply fun. Nothing heavy. No politacal messages. No hidden agendas. Just kids having a ball! I'm getting old.

Just a drummer who loves all things about vintage drums! Nothing more, nothing less.

You're quite welcome sir. I too enjoyed their music and tv show.

I remember drumming along to "Mary Mary"..

Pure joy.

The entire tune was based on Kieth Richards famous lick. You'll hear Mike play it half way through. Great fun stuff. I loved this one. Goes to show, even lowly 'Pop' music has its Masters.

Too many great drums to list here!

Okay!...

One of my ALL TIME Monkee's favorites.. ( probably my number 1 favorite truth be told ) .. "For Pete's Sake" . Written by Peter Tork, lead vocal by Mickey Dolenz. This was the tune played at the end of every show as the credits ran. Have a listen if you have forgotten it! [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pr5dnte9JgU&feature=fvwrel[/ame]

It was really a fun thing to see The Monkees Show. They were goofy and funny and they played music -everything I identified with at the time.

Thanks and RIP, Davey.

When I was 10 I thought "The Monkees" were the greatest. Little did I know I would end up being friends with Davy. I got a call this morning from a friend here who had heard Davy had a heart attack at the stables where he keeps his horses and had passed away.

Thinking it was just a rumor I called his cell and got his answering machine.

Then heard the awful news when I then called his house. I have known Davy for several years and we became very good friends. I have performed 35 concerts with him as a percussionist and background vocalist in the last few years. Even play drums on 4 of the cuts "uncredited" on his last CD, "She" that he recorded all the vocals and basic tracks here in my project recording studio. I did get credit for helping him produce the vocals and Vibraphone on some cuts. He was a really funny guy and not to far off from his on screen personna. We had many laughs and drinks together. You will be missed my friend!

Agree with everything thats been said. When "Headquarters " came out,I buryed myself in my room, and played the album till I fell asleep. The next day,I tried to play the drum parts on my "Liverpool Compact"cardboard drums.

"You just may be the One" was my favorite on the album, and it was actually the Monkees, playing the instruments.

But try as hard as I could,I just couldn't find a store that sold double breasted shirts, but I did have a wool hat.RIP Davie, you made me a "Daydream Believer":)
