Just watched the 1978 movie The Last Waltz...
Ringo comes on for the grand finale and sits down at what appears to be a 60's Rogers kit...with no bottom heads...
Never saw that before...

Yes Blair. As soon as someone allowed him to get off those tired oyster Ludwigs, he jumped at the opportunity to play some really good drums!

Ha!!!! Hilarious!
Hmmm. So were the Rogers HIS drums? I like Rogers and Ludwig, although it seems Rogers was more consistent in quality.
The Rogers kit was for the piano player to use when Levon was playing mandolin and/or singing. It's amazing how similar his style was to Levon's.

The fills Richard Manuel did on Rag Mama Rag still kill me. "She could be relaxing etc"
I saw the Band and Dylan at Maple Leaf Gardens during the Blood on the Tracks tour. There were a couple of songs where Richard and Levon both played drums. Ballad of a Thin Man was one that was the business.
Don't remember what the second kit was, though the BS Rogers don't ring a bell. Rentals?
